All is Fleeting

Oil on wood, 30 x 90 cm, 2016

All is Fleeting examines simultaneity. The paintings depiction of  three snapshots of the ocean placed together examines Bergson's criticism of our attempt to order and unify time. All is Fleeting explores the idea of an extended ‘now’ in which the sensation of the present moment is actually contained in the immediate past. All is Fleeeting engages Smith's interest in the dynamic processes of water.
